Embedded cluster requirements

Embedded cluster installation requirements

The Embedded Cluster platform is a bare metal, cloud vm, or virtual machine. To install and configure the Labelbox application, you will need the following:

  • Ability to SSH to the instance
  • A user with sudo privileges needed to run the install scripts
  • A static private IPv4 address assigned to the server

Firewall rules

All DNS endpoints should resolve to the server and have whitelisted firewall rules for browsers for TCP 8800, TCP 80 and TCP 443

The server must be able to talk to itself over port 443. Specifically, keycloak.YOURDOMAIN.COM:443 should be routable and resolvable from processes running within the cluster

For non-airgap installations, outbound internet connections from the cluster to pull images should be open to:

  • proxy.replicated.com
  • docker.io
  • registry.hub.docker.com
  • index.docker.io
  • docker.elastic.co
  • k8s.gcr.io (for metrics server)

Disk allocation

Ideally, just a / partition exists with the recommended storage requirements. If specific disk allocations are required, the following is our suggestion:

Minimum disk space if using separate partitions for paths:

  • /opt/replicated path with 500 GB or more disk space
  • /var/lib path with 820 GB or more disk space
    • /var/lib/containerd path with 250 GB or more disk space
    • /var/lib/kurl path with 250 GB or more disk space
    • /var/lib/longhorn path with 320 GB or more disk space for kubernetes Persistent Volume management
  • /home/ path with 100 GB or more disk space for the compressed and uncompressed installation files as well as installer copies.
  • /tmp path with 50 GB or more disk space for the installation and upgrades

Disk allocation usage

The /opt/replicated path is usage dependent. It needs 500 GB minimum just for installation, but as you add additional assets, the disk usage will grow.
