# Import and upload data

> Shows how to set up your data and bring it into Labelbox Catalog, either by importing or integrating with a database or other source.

To upload data to Labelbox, you'll need to create a dataset and import your data as data rows into that dataset.

Individual data assets are stored in [data rows](/horizon/guides/key-definitions#data-row); you upload and associate a variety of [annotations](/horizon/guides/key-definitions#annotation) , such as [labels](/horizon/guides/key-definitions#label) , [metadata](/horizon/guides/key-definitions#metadata), [predictions](/horizon/guides/key-definitions#prediction), custom metrics, and more. Individual data rows are identified using [global keys](/horizon/developer-guides/data-row-global-keys) unique to your workspace.

To do this, you can:

* Import data rows from [local file locations](/horizon/guides/upload-local-files) or [cloud storage buckets](/horizon/guides/import-cloud-storage).
* [Use the SDK](/horizon/guides/python-sdk-import) to upload data rows, assets, and annotations.
